Extracurricular

The BSCO organizes many optional programs to supplement the child's education outside of school hours. These activities are only possible through our parent and community volunteers. Learn more about the activities below and how to get involved! If you are interested in volunteering for any of the activities, please contact volunteers@bonnyslopebsco.org. If you are interesting in leading or serving on any of the committees that make these activities possible, please fill out this interest survey.

  • The Bobcat Trail Club is a running and walking program for Bonny Slope Elementary students in partnership with Marathon Kids. The goal of the Bobcat Trail Club is to encourage fitness in a fun way! Kids run and walk laps on the track and accumulate the laps every time they run. Rewards are given after designated milestones are reached to help encourage kids to reach their goal of an actual marathon. Bobcat Trail Club takes place before school on Mondays and Thursdays between 8-8:25. The program runs the entire year, usually rain or shine.

All Bonny Slope students are automatically signed up through the Marathon Kids programs managed by the P.E. Department and kids can participate as they wish. When they arrive to run, they will find cards, separated by classroom, with their names on it. Grab your card and start running! Once you start running on Monday or Friday, you have started the journey to the marathon distance.

  • This annual fun-filled event has been a consistent success through the years at Bonny Slope. Volunteers promote, set-up and staff the week-long fair, often helping students find particular books and organizing the shelves.

A teacher wish-list board is also created to better support BSE classrooms. The week also includes a Family Night, with extended evening hours and light refreshments.

  • The purpose of Community Outreach at Bonny Slope is to excite, encourage and equip young people to give back to the community – both locally and globally. We help kids discover their power in making a difference!

Over the years, Bonny Slope has participated in the Sparrow Club (providing financial and emotional support for critically ill children and their families), the Beaverton Clothes Closet (providing free clothing for students in grades K-12 from families with limited income), Kids Care Club (a free after-school program where a charitable organization educates our kids on their charity, and then the kids complete a project to support that organization), Hearts for Haiti (collected money through different individual + group activities to support Haiti after their earthquake) and Project Warm-Up (an annual clothing drive to support Beaverton families in need).

  • Each fall we participate in International Walk to School Day. This event promotes awareness of our funky walking routes, increases physical activity, and reduces traffic congestion and pollution. BSCO coordinates walking routes and times for this great event.

In the spring months, we participate in Bike to School.

  • The Bonny Slope Yearbook is published each June and is available for purchase. The yearbook committee leads design, photograph, layout class pictures and edit the pages of the yearbook.
