Funding Options for Teachers
This page is intended to help teachers and staff at Bonny Slope get access to funds that will improve the student learning experience.
Teacher Funds
Teacher funds are for items that students see and touch in individual classrooms, such as:
-
books for the classroom library
-
storage items like baskets, bins, and shelving
-
games, flash cards, counters
-
decorations, wobble chairs, rugs
-
additional school supplies (crayons, glue sticks, pencils, etc.)
Available to all teachers, both full and part-time.
Teacher Funds are available up to $750 per classroom for 2024/25
Educational Support
Educational Support funds provide for grade-wide enrichment, such as:
-
Materials needed for Units of Inquiry and educational targets
-
Past items have included ant farms, microscopes, classroom books, and field trips.
-
-
Includes the Paper Fund, which supports all the paper supplies needed for classrooms, eliminating paper as a requested school supply item.
Educational Support funds coordination and utilization will be overseen by the BSE staff.
Teacher Grants
The BSCO Teacher Grant Program is designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize, and reward innovative and creative instructional approaches to the accomplishment of curriculum objectives.
Examples of past completed, now mature grants, include:
-
Living Things Unit -- 1st grade
-
Newbery Honor Book Clubs and Advanced Reader Notebooks -- 5th grade
-
Salmon Life Cycle -- 4th and 5th grade
After two consecutive years, a successful program may be considered a mature grant budget item. Mature grants do not need to be re-approved annually, but will be reconsidered each spring when the BSCO budget is set.
New and mature grants fall into the Teacher Grants budget line item.
Grants awarded must be implemented during the school year they were approved. BSCO encourages early submission to ensure funds are available.
