No Monster Mash Next Year?? Volunteers Needed for a Few Programs!

volunteersneeded.jpg

Thank you to the many parents who have volunteered to serve as a Committee Lead or Co-Lead next year.  We are lucky to have so many fantastic parents and community members who support our school and students in a variety of ways!  But, we still need your help because the following committee lead positions have not been filled for the 2018-19 school year. Without individuals or teams to run these committees, it is likely that these events and programs won't happen next year:

  • Monster Mash

  • Auction Fundraiser

  • Yearbook

Please contact Katie Kammer or Holly VanderPloeg if you want to volunteer for Monster Mash or Yearbook.  Contact Ellen Rothery if you would like to volunteer to be a part of the Auction.

Monster Mash Once Again Cast Its Spell on BSE

The Bonny Slope Monster mash was another hair-raising affair last Friday, with nearly 670 children in attendance.  All involved were treated to another wickedly scary Haunted House, a spooktacular Cake Walk collection (94 cakes!), a spook-tacular Treat Trail, and many other chills and thrills on a beautiful and clear October night.  Even Bobby the Bobcat got into the costumed spirit, donning a cape and mask to walk incognito among the children.

Some serious thank yous are due to the people who made this much-loved event a reality.

The Monster Mash team (directing the night in their referee shirts), including co-chairs Barbara Simon and Hannah Donohue, and the rest of the awesome planning committee: Melissa Berg, Mara da Silva, Jenny Deeb, Victoria Foord, Julie Gupta, Kelly Matsushima, Claire Parker, Begona Paz, Ellen Rothery, and Stephanie Wilson.

The Haunted House team, led by Chris and Jenny Deeb, as well as the many parents who came out on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon to build the frighteningly awesome Haunted House (twice!).  A shout-out is also due to the Cedar Park Drama Club and all the middle school actors who scared the bejeezus out of us.

The generous parents who donated candy, cakes, and jack o’lanterns, enabling a successful and fun night for all.

The fantastic BSE staff for their time, patience, and logistical help, especially Jeff Buck, Renee Conduff, Gavin Kido, Steve Sparks, and Jacob Whitehead.

The many parent volunteers who decorated the halls, organized line control, or helped with activities.  A special thank you to the Sunset Key Club.  Without their support, this night would not have been possible.

And of course, our sponsors, Fred Meyer and Orchard Hardware, for their continued support of Bonny Slope.

The 2017 Monster Mash was offered free of charge thanks to the fundraising effort in 2016-17.  Once again, the support and participation of our BSE community continues to provide memorable events for the entire family.  Thank you, Bonny Slope!
