Introducing the 2019 Bonny Slope Auction on April 14th! Tickets on sale NOW!

We are excited to formally invite you to this year’s Bonny Slope auction. This event raises money to support to all of our BSCO programs which were recently highlighted at our winter community meeting. These programs connect with your student in a variety of ways such as technology updates for the classroom and ongoing teacher support.  This is part of what makes Bonny Slope Elementary such a great school!  Another part is our community. That is you and all of your support. So come out and join in on the fun of the auction.

Book a sitter, purchase tickets to the auction, check out the raffles and teacher experience packages also available for purchase, and get ready to experience TopGolf gameplay fun.  We are very excited for our new night and our new venue which will be the perfect backdrop to meet some new BSE friends, while supporting BSCO programs like Art Literacy, Coder in Residence, Science Night, Bobcat Trail Club, Geography Club, Parent Education Nights, Back to School Picnic, Carnival, Monster Mash, and so much more.

Swing into Spring with the Bonny Slope Auction at Top Golf on April 14th!

With the excitement of the snow this week it’s easy to look towards warmer weather.  Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 14th as you are invited to join us at the Bonny Slope Spring Auction! Our auction and game play will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Top Golf in Hillsboro.

Tickets on sale February 22nd!

This year we are very excited to host our annual auction on a new day and at a new location.  The primary focus of the auction is to raise funds to support our BSCO programs, our BSE classrooms and our students.  With that in mind we want to ensure that funds raised by YOU go towards the programs for YOUR students. As in the past, the evening will allow for the community to gather and to connect as we help to support our BSCO programs.

So come and take a few swings in the golf bays, bid to win one of the many silent auction packages, and make some new friends over dinner and drinks.  It is sure to be an evening you won’t fore-get!

Things to know:

Q. Will the fundraiser still feature a silent auction?

A. Yes. We will have a prize-filled silent auction like in previous years. The live auction will not be included as all items will be featured in the silent auction. We’re also trying out new technology for easy bidding while you play your round of golf.

Q. Is this still a community-building event?

A. Yes. The golf theme and backdrop is just the location for the auction.  We will have plenty of space to mingle and connect with other members of our wonderful BSE community. No golfing experience necessary for the TopGolf game play activities.

Q. Can I bring my kids?

A. No. While Top Golf is a fun family activity, the auction event is an adults-only night. Come check out the location and book a tee-time for another family outing.

Q. Is this a theme party?

A. Yes and No! We know our community loves a theme so if you feel like it fairway attire is encouraged. Of course dressing up is always optional.  The photo booth will have fun golf themed props for you no matter how you arrive.

Q. What if I can’t attend?

A. There are many ways for you to support BSCO programs outside of attending the auction. There will also be raffle tickets and teacher experiences available to purchase on the auction website in the coming weeks.  You can also offer your support by volunteering or donating items.

Q. Want to sponsor the event, donate items for the silent auction, or help with the event planning?

A. We need you!  Send an e-mail to

Happy New Year!!  Are you interested in helping out with this year's auction?  We need you!!  Please join our initial planning meeting January 9th at 6:30 pm at Erin's Wine Cellar (525 NW Saltzman).

Opportunities to help:  Procurement/Sponsorship, Event Planning & Marketing, Student Art, and Adult/Family/Teacher Sign Up Parties.

Please don't hesitate to bring your friends or to share this.  Interested in helping but can't make the meeting?  Please reach out to us at

This year's auction is April 14th from 5 pm-8 pm at Top Golf in Hillsboro.

Next Year's Auction Just Needs You!

The BSCO Board is excited to propose a new format for its Spring fundraiser, the Auction.  We are hoping to hold the Auction at Top Golf in Hillsboro for a more casual, fun, and active fundraising event.  The Auction will still involve your favorites, including raffles, adult/kid parties, student art, and the silent auction, but attendees will also get a chance to eat some tasty food, have a drink, and hit a few golf balls!  We're excited to try a new twist on one of the community's favorite traditions and an important annual fundraiser.

Many of the logistics and details are already underway thanks to BSCO's VP of Fundraising Ellen Rothery.  But we won't be able to get this event off the ground until we identify 1 or 2 volunteers to lead the Auction Committee.

The Auction Lead(s) will work closely with the helpful event staff at Top Golf.  Fundraising targets for 2018-19 were cut in half to allow for a more casual event without a live auction.  Sponsors and donations shouldn't be hard to secure given a strong history of donations and very organized procurement records about who to contact.  And the past leads and committee chairs will continue their support and help the new leads transition into the role.  We just need a leader to say yes!!

If this new format sounds interesting to you, please contact Ellen Rothery.  The sooner we secure a lead volunteer(s), the sooner we can reserve the space and dates and get this fun project underway.

Thank you Committee Leads!

We appreciate every volunteer at Bonny Slope, but we’d like to give a special 'thank you' to the following parents for their committee leadership this year.  BSCO Committee Leads make such an impact on our community, your efforts have not gone unnoticed.  Bravo and thank you!

No Monster Mash Next Year?? Volunteers Needed for a Few Programs!

Thank you to the many parents who have volunteered to serve as a Committee Lead or Co-Lead next year.  We are lucky to have so many fantastic parents and community members who support our school and students in a variety of ways!  But, we still need your help because the following committee lead positions have not been filled for the 2018-19 school year. Without individuals or teams to run these committees, it is likely that these events and programs won't happen next year:

  • Monster Mash

  • Auction Fundraiser

  • Yearbook

Please contact Katie Kammer or Holly VanderPloeg if you want to volunteer for Monster Mash or Yearbook.  Contact Ellen Rothery if you would like to volunteer to be a part of the Auction.

2018 Auction Teacher Experiences a Success!

Third grade students enjoyed a board-game themed experience in the library.

Third grade students enjoyed a board-game themed experience in the library.

The 2018 Auction Teacher Experiences were another rousing success.  122 students participated (up from 108 last year), with BSCO grossing an incredible $3050 from these parties alone.  Every dollar is put back into the classrooms and students of BSE.

Kindergarteners returned for their annual ice cream social, while the first grade enjoyed a Field Day on the BSE field with Mr. Whitehead and their teachers.  Once again, Ms. Acosta hosted an art party in her classroom along with the second grade team.  The third grade returned to a former party theme-- board games in the library.  And finally, Sunset Lanes again generously donated a bowling party to the BSE fourth grade.

Second grade students & teachers had a great time creating art in Ms. Acosta's room.

None of this would be possible without the participation and support of our Bonny Slope teachers.  Huge thanks to all the teaching teams who generously donated their time and took part in these fun after-school activities, as well as to all the BSCO families that participated.

A special thank you is due to Phil Jackson of Sunset Lanes for their donation of the fourth grade bowling party, as well as to BSE teacher, Aliyah Taylor, for her work as Auction's teacher experience liaison.

Cheers, BSE! 2018 Auction Astounds Again

Pop, fizz, clink, Bonny Slope!

This year’s “Cheers to 10 Years” celebration was a night for the ages. Net fundraising estimates for this year’s event are hovering around $58,000– and that’s BEFORE adding the accompanying matching funds, meaning that this year’s event continues BSCO’s legacy of strong and purposeful support of the teachers, classrooms, and students of BSE. Cheers to you, indeed!

Bonny Slope teachers and staff celebrated in style

Bonny Slope teachers and staff celebrated in style

Over 220 parents, teachers, staff and community members descended upon the Tiffany Center on April 21 to participate in this popular fifth annual event, which celebrated the volunteers and vision of the first ten years of Bonny Slope Elementary. Highlights included the dessert dash, the teachers’ singing performance, a video montage that took us back across the past decade, and of course, that fire alarm.

Huge thanks to the Auction leadership team-- Ellen Rothery, Lauren McCabe, Lisa Teuber, and Cori Anger

Huge thanks to the Auction leadership team-- Ellen Rothery, Lauren McCabe, Lisa Teuber, and Cori Anger

Auction chair, Lauren McCabe, is thankful for the combined effort of so many, including the help of new families, sharing,  “Our goal for the auction this year was to celebrate our amazing school and refocus on the primary purpose of having an auction- raising funds for BSCO’s many programs. We had a record number of volunteers helping in ways big and small, many of whom were new to the school and had never attended an auction before!”

McCabe enjoyed the experience along the way. “The leadership team of this year’s auction was a delight to work with and I am so thankful that these ladies, who were strangers to me in October, are now my friends,” she adds. “Thank you to all the sponsors, donors, party hosts, and guests who supported our efforts and had a little fun at the same time! I look forward to attending the Auction and Soiree in the future to enjoy the community bonding and support the programs that make our school so special!”

The annual Soiree and Auction is BSCO’s second major fundraiser of the year, following last fall’s Jog-a-thon.  Proceeds will fund the balance of BSCO’s annual budget, as well as provide support for BSCO’s latest schoolwide improvement project– boosting our music program’s aging instruments and equipment, such as risers, xylophones, percussion and ethnic instruments, and sound and recording equipment.

If you were unable to attend, but are still interested in participating, there are still opportunities available. Select parties are still available for purchase, including the Blizzard Wine tasting experience, a Mediterranean brunch, a family soccer World Cup, and an exclusive shopping event on NW 23rd.  An 11x17 poster of the fifth grade selfie mosaic is also available for purchase.

Head over to the auction website ( to look through the exciting options still available.

Huge thanks to our amazing organizing committee, most especially McCabe, Ellen Rothery, Cori Anger, and Lisa Teuber for their tireless work.  A shout-out is again due to Ava Palmquist for her role as emcee and to the many parents who assisted with the classroom art and to those who donated items to the auction packages.

And a very special round of applause to our Bobcat Soiree and Auction Sponsors:
