It’s been another busy school year and we’ll soon be clearing out classrooms and cubbies and even our home supplies.
How many markers do you think we’ll be throwing in the trash this year? Too many, right?
Crayola and schools across North America are banding together to help everyone understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment through the Crayola ColorCycle and our BSE Community can have a role in this too.
Since 2013, instead of filling our landfills, Crayola ColorCycle has repurposed more than 70 tons of expended markers in the USA and Canada, and using the most advanced technologies available has been able to create wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles, as well as generate electricity.
Crayola ColorCycle will accept all brands of plastic markers, NOT just Crayola markers. That includes dry erase markers and highlighters!
As we approach the end of the school year, look out for the marker recycling bins under the main stairwell and in classrooms and bring your dried-up and worn out markers from home too.
Thank you BSE Families
