5th Grade Volunteerism in Action

Have you been to school this past week?  And have you seen those boxes sitting under the stairs, wondering "what the heck are those?"  Those boxes are our students putting their thoughts and goals to help others into ACTION!

The 5th grade Bobcat Diplomats are working on four different collection drives.  All throughout the month of November, they will be collecting new goods for:

Janus Youth:
Collecting new and gently used warm clothing for homeless youth

Meow Village:
(Feral cat rescue shelter) Collecting all kinds of items for cats

NW Children's Outreach:
Collecting new and gently used coats for foster children

Oregon Humane Society:
Collecting all kinds of items for dogs

What an amazing array of ways to provide support to those who are in need!  We all say it, and these kids sure do show it, but it is wonderful to see their thoughtfulness and desire to help others reach such a wide audience.  Why not take the time to do a little shopping with your children, and bring in your goods together?  It would make for a wonderful teaching moment, and really bring the meaning of this Thanksgiving holiday season, home.
