Nearly 50 community members were on hand last Tuesday to listen to Howard Hiton’s presentation “What About Boys.” Hiton walked the audience through recent studies, data and tips surrounding boys’ graduation rates, and perception of schools, as well as provided methods to enforce empathy and literacy.
The presentation included two handouts, What We Can Do for Boys and Academic Strategies for Boys. Additional materials, including a bibliography of relevant books, can be found at his website, http://www.hitonassociates.net.
Our final Parent Education evening will be Wednesday, March 8th at 7pm. Kim DeMarchi will be joining us to discuss “Raising Daughters.” BSCO’s Parent Ed series is funded through your generous BSCO donation and coordinated by Megan O’Malley Cook. If you have input regarding future presentations, please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
