STEM Volunteers Needed

Bonny Slope has two exciting opportunities for volunteers to help with STEM related after school activities this spring!  The school is hoping to offer two different after school clubs through the SHINE program.  The first is called SCRATCH, which is an introduction to programming geared towards K-2 students.  This will hopefully be held on Wednesdays from 3:10pm to 4:10pm beginning in late April or early May and run for 6 sessions.  The second is a physics club aimed at students in grades 3-5, which will most likely be on Mondays from 3:10pm to 4:10pm, also beginning in late April or early May and run for 6 sessions.

One to two volunteers are needed to lead each club.  In addition to the six week class, there is also a training commitment where volunteers will meet to learn the curriculum and some positive behavior support strategies for managing the students.  The training is expected to be about 1-2 hours of time in the weeks before the clubs begin. Volunteers can also plan on spending a minimal amount of prep time each week looking over plans, trying out the activities and setting up any materials.

Volunteer applicants will need to fill out an online form that can be found at impactnw.org.  The position is called Class Instructor (SHINE Bonny Slope). There is a short timeline and the deadline to apply is this week!

Thank you so much for considering this opportunity to help our students. If you have any questions you can contact Jennie Knapp.
