This past week has been a whirlwind of enthusiasm as staff, students and families returned to Bonny Slope.
Meet the Teacher/Back to School Picnic
While the afternoon rain hampered our picnic plans, BSE families were still able to meet their teachers, explore the school, and enjoy a popsicle while catching-up with old friends. Huge shout-out to Jenna Dornblaser and Sara Gillette for organizing our BSCO-funded refreshments!
A boisterous and energetic (and possibly impatient) crowd descended on BSE's front doors on Tuesday, as the first day of school kicked off with it's usual chaos and smiles.
Over 40 parents enjoyed coffee and chit-chat at our BSCO Welcome Coffee, as Mrs. Maza gave the crowd a brief school update and BSE's counselor, Mrs. Johnson, shared some awesome transition ideas for young students. Big thanks to Yolanda Leal, Jessica Gaibler, and Christy Bishop for spear-heading this event.
The Playground Is Covered!
The biggest news in town is the completion of the brand-new BSCO-funded playground cover, just in time for our students' first day. It was down to the wire, with installation crews working over the long weekend. This long-anticipated addition will ensure year-round enjoyment of BSE's playground for years to come.
This project would not have been possible without the leadership of Erin Hire. Erin has worked tirelessly on our community's behalf as BSCO collaborated with Beaverton School District to make this vision happen. Thank you Erin and to all involved in this daunting process.
