We had a great turn out for our Kindergarten Round-up! It is amazing how much smaller the future kindergarteners look when compared to the students at Bonny Slope. If you are aware of any future kindergarteners at Bonny Slope that did not attend the Kindergarten Round-up, please let them know that it would be helpful to register for next year as soon as possible.
Tomorrow we have the Jump Rope for Heart assembly. Mrs. Wardell will feature Bonny Slope students jumping rope with an “entertaining flair”. The Jump Rope for Heart event will take place February 23rd and 24th during P.E. classes. At the assembly, the students will also watch a cute but very informative video about the science fair. This video features Bonny Slope students and parent volunteers. The science fair will be held on April 3rd.
At the beginning of the year we had to take apart our technology lab so that the room could be used as a classroom. I am happy to announce that the wiring for a new technology area in the library should be done by the middle of the week. The timing is perfect. Students will be able to use the lab during technology class until mid-march. The second week in March we will begin state assessments including Smarter Balance.
There continues to be a large number of students leaving early or arriving late to school. Oregon has one of the smallest numbers of instructional minutes in the nation. Please do everything you can to make sure your children have the benefit of an entire day in school.
This Monday teachers will be sending out a link to Sign-up Genius at 3:15pm via your email. You will be able to sign up for a time for your parent-teacher conference on this site.
Finally, I hope you get a chance to come to our school and see the large American flag on our flagpole. It is absolutely beautiful!
