The BSCO organizes and sponsors annual family events at Bonny Slope. Each event has a volunteer planning committee as well as many additional volunteers that help staff the event.
Back to School Picnic
The Back to School Picnic celebrates the beginning of each new school year. This family event is held the week before Labor Day, immediately following Bonny Slope's Meet the Teacher and School Supply Drop-off. Families bring their own picnic and dine outside by the Bonny Slope playground and amphitheater.
This is a great chance to touch base with old friends, interact with the Bonny Slope teachers and staff, and meet some new friends. The BSCO provides a dessert and drink. Volunteers are needed to help set up, oversee the refreshments, and clean up.
Monster Mash is a fun-filled evening for the entire family. The Monster Mash is complete with a haunted house, DJ & dancing and other fun activities. Costumes are welcomed (though leave the masks, gory costumes and swords/guns at home).
Many volunteers are needed for setup, cleanup and overseeing activities. This event is typically the last Friday in October.
Parent Education Presentations
The Bonny Slope Community Organization hosts several parent education presentations throughout the year that delve into popular and current parenting and childhood topics. These expert presentations are free to all community members.
The Bonny Slope Science Night promotes science in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere where every participant is a winner. Students can choose to do experiments or presentations.
At the event, the young scientists present and discuss their projects with volunteer reviewers and receive positive feedback. The community is invited to view student projects, participate in hands-on experiments and exhibits, purchase a dinner, and have lots of fun!
Volunteers are needed for event setup, cleanup, dinner service and as project reviewers.
At the end of each school year, Bonny Slope volunteers put together an amazing carnival for our students and their families. The event is on a Friday evening and provides carnival games, inflatables, music, food and a pie eating contest for the graduating 5th graders.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by pre-order or at the door. Every participating child needs a ticket. Adults are free and a dinner and snacks are available for purchase at the carnival.
